Jude Bellingham Sees Red in Heated La Liga Clash – But Was It a Mistranslation?

Jude Bellingham’s fiery reaction to a refereeing call during Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw at Osasuna on Saturday ended with the star midfielder being sent off – but the drama didn’t stop there.

The incident unfolded in the 40th minute when Bellingham, frustrated by a decision, waved his arms and exchanged words with referee José Luis Munuera. The official quickly showed him a straight red card, leaving Madrid down to 10 players.

After the game, coach Carlo Ancelotti jumped to Bellingham’s defense, claiming a *translation mix-up* led to the sending-off. The England international had muttered “*f*** off*” under his breath – a phrase Ancelotti argued was *not* a direct insult at the referee. “He didn’t mean ‘*f*** you*,’” Ancelotti explained. “It’s just a common expression he uses when frustrated.”

Bellingham backed this up, admitting he’s used the phrase since his teens. “I’d never intentionally leave my team short-handed,” he said. “It was a miscommunication, plain and simple.”

But the referee’s report tells a different story: Munuera insists Bellingham *did* say “*f*** you*,” which crossed the line into offensive territory.

The clash added fuel to Madrid’s ongoing frustration with referees. Earlier in the game, Ancelotti had been booked for arguing over a potential handball by Osasuna that went unpunished. The club had slammed officials just weeks prior after a controversial loss to Espanyol.

Despite taking the lead through Kylian Mbappé, Madrid couldn’t hold on after Bellingham’s dismissal, settling for a draw. The incident leaves fans wondering: Was it a case of lost-in-translation tension, or did the referee get it right? Either way, it’s another fiery chapter in Madrid’s season.
